Welcome to the world of high performance computing (HPC). You’re probably visiting this site because you have been given the task of configuring a High Performance Computing System (HPC) or a special project that involves HPC for your company. One of your first questions is probably “What is HPC?” A generally used definition of HPC is “a branch of computer science that concentrates on developing supercomputers and the software to run on supercomputers”. To be more specific, HPC involves aggregating computer power to deliver much higher performance that can be achieved by a single workstation or desktop.
